GI and Liver Pathology
Physicians Laboratory's board-certified pathologists include a fellowship-trained gastrointestinal and liver pathologist. The pathologists at PL are dedicated to providing comprehensive diagnoses that encompass clinical, endoscopic, and histologic findings. Medical and neoplastic liver biopsies are often reviewed in person with the hepatologists to ensure the highest level of care and the most accurate diagnoses for these medically complex patients. Also, hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal conferences are held weekly to discuss complex neoplastic cases in an interdisciplinary setting. Additionally, our pathologists play an active role in Avera's liver transplant program, assisting with transplant candidate native biopsies, pre-implantation donor biopsies, and evaluating post-transplant biopsies for rejection or recurrence.
